How can a day a Person was killed be referred to as "Good?"

1. Today is the worst day in history because an innocent person was murdered. But it is called Good Friday because it the death of that innocent one that ushered our salvation.

 

2. It is a "Good Friday" because it was on that day that Jesus conquered Sin, Death, the Devil, and the world. These are great enemies of man. By conquering them, Jesus liberated us and elevated us.

 

3. It is a "Good Friday" because Jesus reversed the penalties of the original sin of Adam who disobeyed God, by being obedient to God. Hence His Death gave us access to the Father's land - Heaven. That is what the torn cloth at the Jerusalem Temple signifies.

 

4. It is a Good Friday because Jesus in dying, was not to remain in the tomb, but to rise and give a new meaning to love. The meaning of that love is the sacrifice which aims to give us hope. In sacrificing His life to die, it was to give us hope in the world to come. Good Friday tells us that we should not mistake "Love for "Lust".
